61  Theology / Apologetics / Re:HOW CAN WE SAY JESUS IS ONE WITH GOD AND STILL CONFESS A TRINITY? on: December 21, 2005, 10:14:56 PM
I do not know anything about harry's religion or the teachings of swendenborg. I do know that i am reluctant about any religion that teaches in a name other than jesus.

however i am curious about the statement about the oneness doctrine... and i am just curious, how is that the same as islam and other false religions...please explain that to me.

first i would ask you to explain the oneness doctrine, and than explain the comparison with islam and other false religions.
62  Theology / General Theology / Re:CAN ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS GIFT? on: December 17, 2005, 01:35:02 AM
First, Brother
I agree with your reply to degitgen, seems to be a lack of compassion, by the fruits I read.
Amen, with the check!
Now to reply to your post, there was a man who lived his last years just 40 miles up the road from me. Who was a wonderful example to all in the spreading of the Gospel. he was an upright man in his love for the Lord and to the service he was called to do to build His kingdom. A renowned pastor and evangelist. He ministered for over fifty-five years in more than 100 countries, including Soviet Siberia, Russia, Tibet, Philippines and China. He established Feed the Hungry, and LeSEA Broadcasting is still active today. I have a lot of respect for the way this man handled his ministry and stewardship of it. He would start a church, get it running in the country he was ministering in, never setting up a bank account in his name. But in the name of the church, getting the offices filled to run it and move on to the next call the Lord had him and start another. He put his faith in the Lord that he would provide, he never had much to go on, but he went. He was led by the Spirit, and he gave all the glory to the Lord for His giving him the opportunity to serve Him. How many today operate like that? I know they are out there, and thats encouraging know that.
He wrote many books as well, and one that I read was "The Gifts and Minitries of the Holy Spirit", in here I'll share a piece of what was there in refence to your question. He says it is a revelation gift. The word knowledge is related to fact. A word of knowledge is the revealing of a fact in existance which can only be supernaturally revealed. it cannot be seen or heard or known naturally. The word of knowledge is a revelation of a fact that exists; the word of wisdom is a revelation of the future.  A word of knowledge in the scriptures: 1 Kings19:14-18, 2 Kings 5:20-27, 2 Kings 6:12, 1 Samuel 10:22, John 4, Acts 10:19, John1:45-50.
He says that normally it would have to do with the meeting of an emergency. God would not reveal such a thing if there was no real purpose for doing so.
I've experienced this from a lady at church once who came to me and my wife with a word of knowledge from the Lord. And it came to pass in about 5 days. It would have done some damage to my marriage if not God had warned me. It came in part, not a complete detail but enough that when it happened we knew what it was. This woman did not even know us, she was up in the worship singers during worship and she said the Lord spoke to her, in faith she followed through and it came to pass. Praise Jesus, he looks out for us.
The book is outstanding, it is published by {Whitaker House} Oh, the authors name is Lester Sumrall.

May the Lord bless thee and keep thee
only always for Christ Jesus
from the love of a brother

ggamble, i just want to let you know that your research on my behalf has really blessed me. you should know that not only did i read what you wrote, put i wrote some key points down, and i will research the topic more vastly based on some of the wonderful insight some of you have offered.

please know that your labour is not in vain...thank you sooooo, much!

i'm so greatful because at least i have some place to start, and better still some scriptures to run reference to....thanks brother!
63  Theology / Apologetics / Re:HOW CAN WE SAY JESUS IS ONE WITH GOD AND STILL CONFESS A TRINITY? on: December 15, 2005, 11:49:54 PM
the father, the son, and the holy spirit are there in the form of jesus just like the bible says. jesus is there, and to kill confusion, god even but the word jesus there!
64  Theology / Debate / Re:TONGUES - A SIGN on: December 15, 2005, 10:55:32 PM
i'm not saying this is so, but i am just asking, what if the spirit that was not like gods was your own? if you were in an atmosphere where people were celebrating jesus, and you couldn't quite feel enough to shout to the lord, perhaps the problem wasn't the believers, perhaps the problem was the non-believer! god is not and will never be limited to your understanding of his power....because you do not believe does not mean its not true, it just means its not true for you. however, it may be the place you were in, maybe they were off, but i don't know because i wasn't there!
65  Theology / Apologetics / Re:HOW CAN WE SAY JESUS IS ONE WITH GOD AND STILL CONFESS A TRINITY? on: December 15, 2005, 10:42:14 PM
the bible encyclopedia, the bible dictionary, these are helpful tools true enough....but we can not keep leaning to mans understanding to explain gods truths. i just pray that we do not mistakenly dilute or pollute the name of jesus. if the lord wanted trinity in the bible he would have put it there....i know, i know, i'm not deep enough, just love the plain and simple truth.
66  Theology / Debate / Re:TONGUES - A SIGN on: December 15, 2005, 10:31:55 PM
by the way, i have seen the gift of tongues do a mighty work in countless lives. so we can't say it is not needed. becausse you haven't seen it, i imagine it would be hard for you to understand where i'm coming from. just like before i knew jesus for myself, it was hard for me to imagine how close you could actually be to him. you need the holy spirit! without it you are none of his! do you need scripture or should i allow you to study to show yourself approved?
67  Theology / Debate / Re:TONGUES - A SIGN on: December 15, 2005, 09:25:07 PM
thats not what i am saying, what i am saying is that only the spirit of god can know the things of  god. tongues are one of those things, however it is certainly not limited to tongues. tongues is not going to be everyones gift, and i understand the frustration that some have with an assembly of believers and every one of them speak in tongues every single sunday, however, whatever your gifts are i hope that they are used frequently, otherwise what is the purpose of your gift in the body? if you know god, you wouldn't denounce his gifts to your very limited understanding.
68  Theology / General Theology / Re:Born Again! What Happened? on: December 15, 2005, 09:03:39 PM
check out hewbrews 10:26, once saved always saved? i'm curious, what happened to judas?
69  Theology / General Theology / Re:division is good even denominational division on: December 15, 2005, 08:37:52 PM
digitgen,

no offense, but i'm begining to really feel blessed that we disagree...as a matter of fact, if i ever find that we agree on something, i'm really going to research that matter!

p.s. what is it that the lut people believe, please give me some insight on your doctrine.

please be mindful not to pick and chose which parts of the bible you want to run reference to, because if you are not careful, just like the devil, you will be able to find scripture to back up and accept sin. i'm saying that to say this....the bible never contradicts itself, you must pray for wisdom to determine when to use what. on one hand we should be seperate from others who are sinners, but on the other hand, he did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance....were you always saved? if faith comes by hearing, and all who were saved stayed seperate from you, how than would you hear? be in the world but not of the world. there were some straight sinners who the lord have sent me to, and now they are holy....thank god i was not like some "church" people and turned my back on some who have not heard.....what you do not understand is that one day, someone that you are judging may walk in your church a sinner, and one day walk out YOUR pastor! do not write them off just like god didn't write you off! there are some we should seperate from, but than there are some who need to hear from us, you must use wisdom to determine who's who. not some system that you've come up with to make you feel like you are better than someone....it would be a shame for you to sit in church for many years, die and go to hell, because plainly put, the people perish for their lack of knowledge!
70  Theology / Debate / Re:TONGUES - A SIGN on: December 15, 2005, 08:17:30 PM
I am not completely certain these gifts are gone it is just my best interpretation. But what I am certain of what the gift is and its purpose, and it is quite clear on this. There is no don't that this gift's purpose in to win the lost and this babble that is done in churches today is not it, Tell me what purpose it would serve to do this babble to an unsaved person He Will Laugh At You! Now if he were to be Russian and know that you do not speak russian and you were to suddenly speak a perfect russian with the specific dialect <dialectos> of the city he was from you will amaze him and demonstrate the awesome power of God, and I believe you would win him (well the Holy spirit would you know what I mean), now to those who had this gift they may demonstrate it in church but the verse he cited tells them to have a translator for the russian he speaks or what language he speak in. Because the Greeks and hebrews or whoever was there, probably would not understand. Not to mention they DID NOT have a complete bible even in their language but now I have over 130 bible translations that are complete in over 100 languages, the word is not hidden to other countries even close to as much as it was back then. There was an astronomical need back then for that gift, but the major problem today is not a lack of the word it is a lack of care, That lack of care God will not give them signs, thousands of people cames to see what Jesus was about, to see if he is what he said he is, They cared, today the people do not. Even Thomas Genuinely wanted to know today people are so concerned with aquiring & polishing their private space on the Titanic.

Eccesiastes 10:5a. There is [another] evil [which] I have seen under the sun, 6Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich are seated in [a] low place. 7I saw servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth
Afflicted but still..
In his Love and Grace,
David Winn

Well done frederic,

digitgen, if you are worried about rather people will laugh at you, you are in for a lifetime of dissappointment. as a matter of fact, i've laughed at some of what you've said already, but thats neither here nor there. i know people who interprets tongues, so there goes that theory! it sounds to me like you are trying to convince me that because man has created some other translations of the bible, a portion of gods gifting has expired. god made it plainly clear when he said "for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith th lord" isaiah 55:8. i don't need you to understand what i am talking about but i would like you to know what jesus is talking about. i will not budge when it comes to the things of god. you weren't there when he found me, you did not experience the power of that gift flowing through you, and for that i offer my condolences. but what he has done in me and through me is non-negotiable. you will never understand with your crainial knowledge, because the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are none of his. we keep trying to mix spiritual buisness with natural buisness...wanting to figure god out....well he requires you to believe somethings that you do not understand, hence the reason for faith....let he with an ear hear!
71  Theology / Debate / Re:TONGUES - A SIGN on: December 15, 2005, 06:54:04 AM
let me ask you scholars,

did god stop giving out gifts? or does he only give gifts that you believe? gods gifting is not on trial. he has given out gifts of the holy spirit, prophecies, healings, tongues, interpretations of tongues, etc...because you haven't gotten one doesn't mean hes not god, or that he has ceased to give these gifts. perhaps your faith has not belived for these miracles, doesn't mean they do not exsist, just means they do not exsist for you! perhaps you should ask jesus instead of creating a doctrine of your own and teaching it..god is not limited to your understanding, you are!
72  Theology / General Theology / Re:question about christian's unite on: December 09, 2005, 09:20:28 PM
well pockets, i have some really terrible news for you. if you plan to get to heaven, you'd better get rid of this satanic way of thinking...if you do go to heaven, guess what, it's not going to be any church, or bible studies...so if you plan to go to heaven, you'd better get used to me, cause i'm going...and i'm not lutheran either, and based on what you've represented about that religion i do not think that i would ever consider it! my jesus what are they teaching you? get yourself ready, because this way of thinking that you have will fall. check out proverbs 16:18
I think it is wrong for any one to think they have a right to interpet scripture as they see fit
. For scripture interpet's itself .clear passages shedding light on those that are less clear to our sinfilled fallen state.

We in this life CAN not understand the mystery of the Trinity
oR  Christ  his natures his virgin birtrh  , OR predestination of Gods  elect OR Jesus  real presence in God's  sacrament's .
But we should never deny what God has said of these supernatural mysteries . That God  has set fourth in crystial clear scriptural language.
For to do so would make God and his bible a book of confusion.
If we can not agree on these most Basic point's how can there be God pleasing religious fellowship.
Should  we now interpet Gods command to stay away from those who teach differently. Romans 16:17
To mean it is ok to pray with or worship with or be led in bible study  by those of different belief's .
Will not God  THEN have a perfect right to ask  each of us what part of stay away from !did you not understand in my bible?
I mean lets be perfectly honest. Most denominations do not even agree on the doctrine by what Christ church stands or fall's The doctrine of How people  are Justified by God!
Is it by faith or through faith? is it by Christ his merit's alone.
or is it a decision of our's  to accept Jesus. Or was it really Jesus decision to accept us the sinner.
Did Jesus come into this world  to show us a way or did he
 fuLLy win our way.

What is repentance ? denomination's are even in difference on that . Some say it is a personal decision to  turn away from sin.
My church certainly does not teach that, thank God.

fOR How can a person truly repent? unless they understand
repentance must at all times  include trusting the forgivness Jesus has already won for us. by his perfect life and innocent death in our stead.
Only then is the holy spirit pleased to work in us a chnge of heart torward our sin's.

73  Theology / General Theology / Re:what makes a denomination a denomination on: December 09, 2005, 08:39:21 PM
once again, time for us to get caught up on jesus, and not all this other non-sense! what denomination was jesus? thats the one i'm going with. not to mention the only doctrine that we were instructed to follow in the bible was the apostalic doctrine (acts 2:42)....never really read about any other doctrine, have you....so i guess if i had to pick, i'd be apostolic.maybe you have the wrong doctrine!!!! not the lutherans, just you.
74  Theology / Debate / Re:TONGUES - A SIGN on: December 09, 2005, 08:31:19 PM
digitgen,

according to your faith be it unto you. here we go again trying to limit jesus to our understanding. i was going to scripturelly correct you, but i decided i'd give it to you simple, not to mention it appears that you've come across the scriptures on some level. i believe that your statement about other nations being able to understand is accurate, however, i also believe that there is a heavenly language that is between me and god specifically.

heres the thing that i love the most about the truth. the truth is the truth rather you believe it or not. it only becomes true for YOU when you believe it. god is not limited to what you believe or how you've interpreted what he said, only you are!
75  Theology / Debate / Re:TITHE AND OFFERING??? on: December 09, 2005, 08:23:03 PM
dear praise1,

i tithe and offer faithfully off of every dollar i get, however, maybe the house requires more than my tithe...sometimes tithing is only doing the bear minimum...not to mention i'm afraid that some pastors brought into that system to lock down some funds. if god called you to more than your tithe, should i give it? or do i say, this is what is required, so this is what i give....aren't you still holding back from god in that regaurd? its really time for the saints of god to start studying for ourselves, otherwise whoever can sell us whatever, and have us buy it.

i think to often we turn our preachers into our celebraties, because we don't have a relationship with god for ourselves and so we have to wait until sunday morning to hear what god is saying, when the preacher at this point should just be confirming, not dictating. i love the fact that i can get a word from the lord, and i'm not limited to another mans ministry....yes, yes i know the body is many members helping each other, so pastors and preachers are vital, true, but when are we going to take our position in the body to the point where the pastors needs your ministry just as much as you need his?
