Theology / General Theology / I Timothy 5:8

My grandfather taught me this verse at a young age. It says, "Bit of any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."
Before we send money away to those TV evangelists, we need to support our own family and children with our physical means of support. They are important than the religious hucksters who misuse God's money and spend it on their own opulent lifestyles.

Theology / General Theology / Re: ULTRADISPENSATIONALISM: BIBLE TRUTH OR HERESY?
|
on: January 11, 2008, 11:40:56 PM

In short, ultradispensationalism has many good Christians suckered into their wrongly dividing the truth of God's Word. We are obligated to carry out the Great Commission as Gentiles and members of the body and bride of Christ, to be baptized by water (This is where the Baptists are right) to obey the Lord's command but not necessary for salvation, to repent or changing our minds about God, and to live holy lives for the Lord not for salvation but for surrendering their lives to the Lord which is our reasonable service. (Romans 12:1-2)
Ultras are right that we are saved by grace through faith alone but are wrong in saying that a believer does not have changed lives, changed habits, and changed habits. (I John 3:6-10) They are also wrong in saying that the Gospels, the epistles of Peter, the books of I, II, and III John, Jude, Hebrews, James, and all other non-Pauline books only apply to Jews and not to Gentile Christians. I do not see how any thinking Christian can treat the Bible like a restaurant buffet to pick and choose the parts of the Bible that apply to them. This is categorically false according to II Timothy 2:15. Paul would have rebuked this group soundly if we were alive today. Also, the ultras will argue to the death that they have an absolute corner on all of God's truth. Having been on a forum that was taken over by them, I was banned for posting anything contrary to what these papal-like authorities demanded! They are intolerant in the extreme and would not agree with our Lord themselves! I love them, and they are brethren, but I will not follow them or their teachings which deny the very near return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen, Sower, I agree with you in your assessments of the ultradispensationalists!

Theology / Bible Study / Re: Biblical Creation vs. Evolution
|
on: January 07, 2008, 10:08:24 PM
|
Genesis 1:1 says, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
"The fool hath said in his heart that there is no God."
Contrast the fool who denies the creation account of God and believes the stupidity of evolution with the godly who accept God's account of creation by faith. Faith pleases God because we take Him at His word.
Amen!

Entertainment / Animals and Pets / Re: What's your favorite animal?

My favorite animals are cats and dogs. I have two indoor cats, who are brother and sister, named Max and Mya. Max is the one with the personality, and Mya is the most cuddlesome of the two. Max sleeps with me sometimes and can tell when I am not feeling good. My dog Ragan is also one gentle dog, a mixture of Chow and Golden Retriever. I thank the Lord for my pets.

Theology / Apologetics / Re: The cause of war

With the rise of international terrorism and local terrorism, only the peace of God through Jesus Christ will solve the problem of hatred and sin in our own lives. I am far from perfect, but I have learned something about forgiveness. When Jesus commanded Peter to forgive his enemies seventy times seven, He was giving us the answer to one of the problems in society which is an unforgiving spirit. Galatians 6:1 says, "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." When we seek to restore a brother who has been overtaken by a spiritual problem, we should restore that person in a spirit of meekness. If we do not, we may fall into sin ourselves!

Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Self-control

Philippians 4:5 says, "Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand." Moderation in the Scripture means self-control or self-discipline. Many problems in our society such as adultery, fornication, drug abuse, alcoholism, nicotine addiction, etc., are caused by a lack of self-control in the lives of individuals. Galatians 5:23 says one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit in our lives is temperance or self-discipline. If we have rule over our own spirits and lives, we will have the fruit of self-control in our lives.

Sower:
Amen, brother! Ultradispensationalism is unscriptural, while dispensationalism is a right division of God's Word according to II Timothy 2:15 which says, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth."
The rejection of the three Gospels and saying their spiritual principles only apply to Jewish believers is a bunch of baloney! Also, repentance is a part of salvation in that it means having a change of mind which is the Greek word metanoia. Also, rejection of water baptism and the Great Commission which includes witnessing as applying to the Jewish believer is a improper division of God's Word. Holy living and discipleship is important to the believer along with God's chastening is still applicable for today. All the books of the New Testament and Old Testament are relevant for today not just the Pauline epistles or prison epistles of Paul. The rejection of over 1/2 of the books of the New Testament is pure nonsense. Read II Timothy 3:16. I agree with you brother Sower.

I Corinthians 16:14 says, "Let all your things be done with with charity." (in love)
I believe that the above verse would solve many problems between Christians who differ on minor interpretations of Scripture and other Scriptural issues like going to court to sue each other, etc. Jesus loves us, and we should love each other!

Philippians 1:21 says, "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." If I die, my soul goes to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. If I live, my life is given to Him who according to Philippians 1:6, "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you, shall perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." Christ will perform His good works through me as I long I have breath. I would rather be with Christ, but I will live to His glory the best I can in this frail, weakly body of human flesh. Amen!

Theology / Debate / The slaughter of the unborn
|
on: December 31, 2007, 08:27:02 PM

Abortion is legalized "murder" in the eyes of God. When the Bible says not to kill, it also means to stop killing the unborn, either through abortion or any other means! God love little children, and He also loves those who have abortions and those who perform them! God still views the taking of life as a grave sin, but He will forgive those who do these things if they will repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation!

Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Milk vs. strong meat
|
on: December 30, 2007, 07:06:22 PM
|
Hebrews 4:12-14 says, "For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."
Milk for the Christian indicates the lack of Christian growth in the spiritual life of the believer. Strong meat is for one who has matured in his walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Those on milk are spiritual babies feeding on the bottle of simple Christian truths. But one who feeds on strong meat is one who has matured in his walk with God.

Theology / Apologetics / The cause of war
|
on: December 28, 2007, 09:55:07 PM
|
The cause of all war according to God's Word is found in James 4:1-2 which says, "From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not."
The desire to have something which someone else has whether it be sex, money, pride, etc., is lust. The Nazis, the Fascists, the Communists, and the Islamic fanatics all desire to control the world! They are devoid of the divine holiness of the Lord Jesus Christ. Vietnam, Iraq, Iraq-Iran, Korea, World War I, or World War Ii all involved lust for the forbidden. Adam and Eve desired the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, Satan desired to be as God and above God, and we lust after money, sex, drugs, or any number of ungodly desires. Yet Jesus Christ came to die for our lusts and sins! He rose that we might be justified before God, found in His holiness and not our own!
