106  Prayer / Answered Prayer / Re:He Knows the "Heart" on: July 01, 2005, 02:28:30 AM
Yes – He answers prayers.
I visited my cardiologist this morning.  This time last year nearly 30% of my heart muscle was affected by angina (poor or blocked blood circulation around the heart).  Today I am virtually angina-free!  A few years ago the doctor said I may have only a few years left.  Today the same doctor told me if I die anytime soon it WON’T be because of a bad heart!

I thank all of you here at CU for your prayers.  Praise Him for hearing and answering those prayers!

I fall down
And lay my crown
At the feet
Of JESUS!

Praise God. That is such awesome news. What a God we serve. Thank you Jesus.

107  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Christians Will Not be Able to Buy or Sell... on: June 30, 2005, 07:15:14 AM
As someone from the UK, how come this does not surprise me in the slightest? Things are changing so much over here and the PC brigade are winning the day.
I hope that all God fearing Christians who bank with this particualar bank will close down their accounts and move there money elsewhere.
It angers me how Christians in the UK just roll over and accept these things without making any noise whatsoever about it. Even if it was just a letter. At least they are putting there point across and letting the powers to be know how they feel.
108  Entertainment / Computer Hardware and Software / Re:Spybot Search & Destroy on: June 30, 2005, 06:47:04 AM
You can never use enough programs to keep your PC running well.

I use Spybot and also AdAware and find they are excellent programs. One will normally pick up something that the other one may miss. Like Pastor Roger, i have also started to use microsofts anti spyware program and find its very good.

Of course, i use firefox for all my browsing and have my cookies selected to ask me every time, so when i come to do a scan it is very rare that i even have 1 tracking cookie.

My biggest beef with Firefox: The posting tools on this forum don't work right, and pasting in from Word changes " to ?.

That's OK - I keep CU open in IE and use Firefox for everything else. Smiley

JudgeNot, i'm not sure what you mean by posting tools etc but if you mean changing fonts and colours etc, then their is an excellent firefox extension called BBCode. I use it a lot of the time on forums.

Of course if this isn't what you meant, then please accept my apoliges

110  Entertainment / Computer Hardware and Software / Re:Upgrading on: June 25, 2005, 02:54:28 PM
I finally decided to upgrade. I'm getting a Dell. It isn't my first choice of computers but I couldn't pass up the deal. I have a 500 MHz computer right now. The new one, which I will get in about a week, will be 2.40 GHz with 256MB DDR SDRAM at 400MHz, the hard drive is 80GB Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive, 48x CD-RW Drive, 17 inch E773 (16 inch viewable) Conventional CRT (but I am keeping my 19 inch monitor and selling the dell monitor to my oldest son), Dell A215 Speakers. There is no floppy with this as it has that new plug in digital module instead. (never used my floppy anyway)

I'm kinda excited as this will be my first completely new computer I've had since 1986.

Congrats Pastor Roger on your new PC. I am sure that when it arrives next week, you will have so much fun and will notice a diffrence in performance. Your new PC is similar in spec to mine although my PC is not a dell. Have fun with it brother.

111  Theology / Debate / Re:Bibles on: June 19, 2005, 04:12:54 PM
I've heard many debates about this, explainations and I'm still confused..

I've been told the the KJV is the best, most accurate. I find it a bit of a difficult read.

The MKJV is a bit better but still I dont know about it...

The Literal Translation I'm not really comfortable either...

I've been told every Bible outside of these 3 bibles are herectic and garbage and inaccurate....and some are new age garbage..

Is this true any information would be greatly apprecaited..

Godbless
In Christ

You know RichkCt, Before i started going online, i had never even heard of the debate between the KJ being the best bible and others being bad etc etc and i really wish that that was still the case and i still hadn't heard of this debate. I think i can honestly say this whole debate has caused me more frustration, harm and confusion in my christian walk than any other issue and even today, i still don't know which one i should be using.  Sad
112  Fellowship / Parenting / FATHERS DAY: A TRIBUTE on: June 16, 2005, 02:16:50 PM
As we approach Fathers day this coming weekend, i thought i would share a devotional that i receive from Max Lucado ministries by email. Hope it blesses you as much as it did me.
My own Father passed away 3 years ago and boy do i still miss him but thank God that he placed a wonderful model of a father in the first 40 years of my life.

FATHERS DAY: A TRIBUTE
by Max Lucado

Today is Father's Day.

For thirty-one years I had one of the best. But now he's gone. He's buried under an oak tree in a west Texas cemetery. Even though he's gone, his presence is very near especially today.

It seems strange that he isnt here. I guess thats because he was never gone. He was always close by. Always available. Always present. His words were nothing novel. His achievements, though admirable, were nothing extraordinary.
But his presence was.

Summer vacation, Homecoming dates, algebra, first car, driveway basketball, they all had one thing in common: his presence.

And because he was there life went smoothly. The car always ran, the bills got paid, and the lawn stayed mowed. Because he was there the laughter was fresh and the future was secure. Because he was there my growing up was what God intended growing up to be.

Because he was there we kids never worried about things like income tax, savings accounts, monthly bills or mortgages. Those were the things on Daddys desk.

He made the decisions, broke up the fights, chuckled at Archie Bunker, read the paper every evening, and fixed breakfast on Sundays. He didnt do anything unusual. He only did what dads are supposed to do be there.

He taught me how to shave and how to pray. He modeled the importance of getting up early and of staying out of debt.

He comes to mind often. When I smell Old Spice after-shave, I think of him. When I see a bass boat I see his face.

Daddy never said a word to me about sex nor told me his life story. But I knew that if I ever wanted to know, he would tell me. All I had to do was ask. And I knew if I ever needed him, he'd be there.

Hi Javed.

Praise the Lord brother. We are glad to have you with us here at Christians Unite. I hope you really enjoy the fellowship that you will find here. It's great to have Christians from all parts of the world on here. I'm from the UK myself.

I have just had a look at your web site, which was very nice. Thanks for sharing that with us. The photos are excellent and the children look so happy when the photos were taken. Was that you in the photos with them bro?

Once again, welcome to CU

I have Firefox but have had nothing but trouble with it, so I am still using Firebird 0.7 most of the time. That has some bugs as well, but nothing like Firefox, which wouldn't fill in forms and log-in boxes correctly. They looked O.K., but when you tried to submit them it wouldn't work. Sometimes you got a message back telling you that you didn't fill the form in.

One time I got a look at the results and all the information entered in all the boxes was crammed together in the last line.

It also didn't parse the html correctly, with bits of code showing up on the screen.

After the last update it has done better - no more code onscreen and I can log into Yahoo now with it, but still can't upload files to Geocities.

I wish they would get it running correctly as I like the browser and the RSS feeds.

Incidentally, I'm not the only person who has had this problem with Firefox.

It may be worth creating yourself a new profile for Firefox and see if that cures the problem. I have no idea what the problem may be that you are experencing but i know that creating a new profile sometimes helps. A while back i was having some issues with Firefox and in the end i deleted the browser, then reinstalled it but when i started it up, i found i had the exact same problem. I had to delete everything to do with my Firefox, including my profile and then when i reinstalled it and ran it, it worked fine. Just a thought.

Blackeyedpeas.......Firefox is great, GBU/Linux is great. Leave your Firefox browser installed, and download the Opera browser (Opera Cool, and then compare the two for "speed" and features.  I thought Firefox was the ultimate until I tried Opera.....Opera is just flat AWESOME!! http://www.opera.com
[By the way, Firefox latest is version 1.04]

IE/Windows are generic systems used by most simply because they are "easy" to work with....but they are also the least secure/most attacked....I don't know anyone who uses IE/Windows that hasn't had problems with viruses (or massive amounts of spyware/adware).

Another decent browser is K-Meleon, very fast, and I'd rate it as being right up there with Firefox.  Try the Opera 8 and let me know what you think...everyone's opinion is different, but I think Opera 8 is likely the best in the business!

Oh yes, by the way, OpenOffice is just as good, if not better than MS's office suites, and look at the "size!"  At 150MB OpenOffice is less than HALF the size of the MS package. Also compare some of the better "free" antispyware packages to MS's new antispyware pkg.....MS's package is over 25MB!  Kind of makes ya wonder WHAT ELSE it's doing!!!

Antivirus, antispyware/adware, registry cleaners/repair, system cleaners, whatever, there are any number of excellent FREE programs that equal or exceed the performance of the "paid programs," I don't know why anyone even BUYS these kinds of programs anymore!!

I also have Opera and use it from time to time but i do not find it as good as firefox. Yes, you are probably right about the speed issue. My biggest beef with Opera is its cookie handling. I am very fussy about cookies and only let my browser accept what i need and trust. No matter how many variations i try in Opera's settings for cookies, i can never get them to work properly. My biggest problems are with the Yahoo and Hotmail email pages. But as you said in your post, we all have diffrent prefrences. But they are both good browsers.

well... I didn't like the things with Mary.. that she would have married Jesus and they would have got a child together..
it was too much of female (godness?) and I could sometimes guess how the story would continue.
Plus it's not my genre...

After reading what you just mentioned, i'm glad i gave up on the book. Thanks for your reply

Sorry that you felt like that Sweden. I have the book but only read the first 100 or so pages and found it to heavy going. What didn't you like about it and what made you so angry?

Hi again folks

Knew it wouldn't take long. The exploits have been fixed but means having to install firefox version 1.0.4. But that isn't any problem. Stay safe.
