Title: My BF isnt christian
Post by: LilGirl on November 06, 2004, 08:02:59 PM
Hi im crystal and i am almost 17, i have been dating this guy for a lil over 2 months, but he isnt christian he is agnostic. I dont really know if it is right to be with him because he isnt a believer, sometimes i stray away from God when im around him, I talked to him about it and he told me he is closer to god then he was before he meet me, but still strongly does not believe. He said he really wants to be with me so i said ok, but it is still weighing on my heart, i have prayed about it and stuff but i would still like to get some opnions.

Sometimes all it takes is time, Crystal. Remember to keep your faith close to you. Just keep on working on him.

Check The Time:

To day is the day of salvation
and now is a good time to be saved.

Acts 16:30-31 "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and thou shalt be saved."

Isn’t today a good day...

By placing our faith in Christ’s shed blood and nothing else, we can have eternal life.  Isn’t today a good day to place your faith in Christ?  There will never be a better time.  In fact, there is no guarantee of another day. Trust Christ today.

I'd try to get he to believe in God for awhile, but if he doesn't after a couple of months....well either you will stray from God or it won't work.Nonchristians and chistians just can't work out they're not equally yoked( :(or something like that)

Crystal,
Ok I'm going to give you the advice that I give my own teens.
You answered your own question. But here goes, Think about the laws of gravity, everythig is pulled to toward the center, so what is easier to do, lift a weight or lower it? SO Which one of you is the heavier or stronger one? One of you will end up being pulled to the to the other side. Its not a good idea for Christians to date non christians......... you are the christian trying to hold up a non christian, what ends up happening and you've already suggested this in your post is you let your ways slip so you can be with him, his ways are easier, he doesn't have to live by a set rule or fear God but you do, (he does too but he doesnt' know that). TOO Many time I've seen Christians date a nonchristian claiming they can help them. And too many times its the other way around, my own daughter tried this and ended up hurt, the guy dumped her right after christmas she kept telling me I can change him, trouble with that is he didn't want to change.

You need to be your own standard bearer........ this is so important
and the bible tells us how. It tells us to not be equally yoked with a non believer. I know your not married to him, but dating is the process you use to build your standard for the right guy.  Each man you date will have good and bad qualities. In your mind, a journal, or the back page of your bible keep a check list, for example......Steve- great teeth but I didn't like his hair, check- nice teeth and nice hair, #2 Bobby he has a great sense of humor but he smoked so on your list you check NO smokers, good sense of humor, so and so forth.

You now have another quality that you need to add to your list .....must be a christian ( and add in big letters no matter how cute he is, or the kind of car he drives)

Defiantly don't let him talk you into anyting that YOU know in your Spirit is wrong, cause your already feeling it, don't ignore it girl. The Holy Spirit is warning you, learn to listen and obey the Holy Spirit now, seems the older you get the harder it is to hear. As hard as it might seem you need a Christian boyfriend.
my 2 cents worth, (if you ask my teenagers they'll tell that is all the sense I have).
love in Christ
