Controversial Colorado professor fired

BOULDER, Colo. A University of Colorado professor whose essay compared some Nine-Eleven victims to a Nazi leader is out of a job.

The university's governing board has voted to fire professor Ward Churchill. Three faculty committees had accused Churchill of plagiarism, falsification and other misconduct. The allegations are based on other writings, but the investigation began after the national outrage over his September Eleventh essay.

The vote to dismiss Churchill was eight to one. University President Hank Brown called the decision "really pretty basic."

But Churchill said "New game, new game" after the vote. His lawyer says Churchill's rights were violated and that the decision will be fought.
