46  Theology / Debate / Re:WHAT GOD IS DOING TODAY on: August 20, 2004, 07:37:05 AM
QUOTE From H.I.Brown
Quote
He does not always work the same way.

Once again you reply with a quote from someone else, rather than the source.

Pro 30:5  Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Heb 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

HE does always work the same way..... HIS way; the biblical way.

Job 36:26  Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

Psa 48:14  For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

Ecc 5:2  Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

Well BL, I personally detest Jack Chick and his tracts, but in another thread you make it a point to post that there aren't guardian angels.

In this one you post one of Jack's tracts that says there are. Here's an excerpt from that tract:

Quote
Who loves you so much that he would put angels at your side to protect you?

You are most inconsistent. You can't have it both ways. You either believe we do, or believe we don't.

THE WORD OF GOD IS "COMPLETE".

This is so.

But God is much more than the written word. Our God is a living God.

You do not have the right to question God's motives!

Tell that to Job.

Quote
You do not have the right to revelations from God apart from scripture!

Joel 2:28  And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Acst 2:17  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Quote
You do not have the right to take the promises of Israel for yourself!
Gal 3:14  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Gal 3:15  Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
Gal 3:16  Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Heb 6:12  That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Heb 11:31  By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
Heb 11:32  And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Heb 11:33  Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

I could go on an answer the rest, but you get the idea, I'm sure. As for having the right....maybe not, but God has certainly given us license to do some of these things, and in fact indicates we should.

However:

Quote
You do not have the right to pray to heavenly beings other than Christ! (GOD)
You do not have the right to place another human being closer to God than yourself! (WE ARE EQUAL IN HIS EYES)
You do not have the right to work your way into Heaven! (WE DON"T NEED TO, CHRIST'S WORK DID IT FOR US)
You do not have the right to pay for salvation, a free gift, before or after you receive it! (PAY? FOR A GIFT? NO; OFFER Gratitude, praise worship and love? YES)

I hate to say it, but I agree with these.

2Ch 7:11  Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

Yes, I use Hijack This also, but if you don't understand what the log means, it's kind of useless unless you go to the security forums and post it - or take the time to learn it. Using it without knowledge can cause some real damage, but I do rely on it most often to tell me what's going on.

(I did post it, but I wasn't sure this forum would be ready for it, lol)

Here's the list of good freeware programs for many different types of protection for your computer. Most of these programs I have either tried and am using or have installed on other's computer's (helping others get their systems clean and secure is one of the things I do as a pastime):

Antivirus Software (free versions)

- Grisoft AVG  Antivirus (good!) - http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
- Avast (fairly good) - http://www.avast.com/eng/free_virus_protectio.html
- AntiVir (not quite as good) - http://www.free-av.com/

Firewall (free Versions)

- Kerio Personal Firewall (for the more experienced) -  http://www.kerio.com/us/kpf_download.html
- Sygate Personal Firewall - http://smb.sygate.com/buy/download_buy.htm
- Agnitum Outpost -  http://www.agnitum.com/download/

Anti-trojans (free versions)

- A2 - http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/
- TrojanHunter (not free, but a free trial for 30 days, so if you are infected it will clean you up) - http://www.trojanhunter.com/

Spam Filter (for outlook express)

- Frontgate MX (free and awesome) - http://www.presorium.com/en_au/products/fg/index.shtml#features

Other Security Softwares:

Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
Spywareguard - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sgdownload.html
Spywareblaster - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
StartPage Guard -  http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/spg/
IE Spyad (for internet explorer users) - https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm (also some ad blocking add-on lists for Norton softwares and Outpost softwares)
HijackThis! - www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/
Registry Protect & IRC Clean - http://www.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=products
DSO Stop & HTA Stop -  http://www.nsclean.com/freebies.html
Adaware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
Kapersky Virus Removal Tools - http://www.kaspersky.com/removaltools

Places to get help:

Net-Integration - http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?
SpywareInfo -http://forums.spywareinfo.com/
Wilders Security - http://www.wilderssecurity.com/
PacsPortal (a list of .exe programs and what they do, including some that are virus related) - http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm

Just one thing of note: some of these programs are specific to the protection of Internet Explorer. If you are not using IE as your brower (but it is likely still installed) you should probably still run DSO stop. Even though you are not using IE, the fact that it is still installed opens you to the same infections/problems you would have if you were using it.

Hopefully this list will help.

Nice scripture.

In this endeavor to discover what it is that God is doing today

God is doing today what He has always done, isn't He? He tells us he is the same today, as yesterday and as tomorrow...he is never changing....the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega. If you want to know what God is doing today, read the bible.

The error of some is a failure to come unto perfection in the Pauline revelation, for they labor under the so-called Great Commission.

I don't personally feel in error for doing something Christ desires of me; nor is it a labour...unless you call it a labour love.

Thus the Christians faith is founded
on "the Word of God" -- on what God has said in the Bible.

...I'd call that a gift of God.

Quote
Faith is not wishing hard, or feeling confident. It is not
optimism or presumption or imagination. Faith must have
a basis, a foundation. Thus the Christians faith is founded
on "the Word of God" -- on what God has said in the Bible.
The above passage explains: "Faith cometh by hearing."
Isnt that simple? Isnt it true? Some have said that "seeing
is believing," but a moments reflection will reveal that,
like the phrase: "Im from Missouri," this saying is an ex-
pression of unbelief. When we have seen a thing we need
no longer believe it; it has been demonstrated to us. But
when we hear [or read] a matter reported, we may either
believe or doubt it. "Faith cometh by hearing." And like-
wise hearing comes through what has been said. We be-
lieve, or doubt, what we hear and we hear what has been
said. The Christians faith, then, comes by hearing (God)
and hearing by the Word of God. All true Christian faith is
founded on the Word of God.

Confusing.

Heb 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

2Pe 1:1  Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2Pe 1:5  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

Jud 1:3  Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Quote
No faith is the gift WE GIVE to God.

Praise, worship, adoration, love, and our lives in His service is the gift we give to God. Faith comes from Him, we add to it, and that is also a gift we give Him.
